Entertainment

Entertainment for a funeral reception can be as simple as having a musical playlist played over the speaker system from your MP3 player or as extravagant as having a full orchestra or flamenco dancers. The production of the music is an ideal role for a favorite niece or nephew, or someone who asks how they can help.

Perhaps the honoree was a loyal alum of a university and had season tickets to the football games. Consider hiring the marching band, glee club or a capella group to perform favorite tunes. Or if the honoree loved carnivals, you could organize carnival games. If they loved poetry, you can choose some of their favorite poems and have them read by family members. However you choose to entertain the guests at your reception, try to think of how best to represent the interests of the honoree.

Providing meaningful entertainment doesn't have to be costly. It should represent the honoree in a way that is personal. At the end of the day, it should leave the guests feeling like they have just celebrated the honoree's life.
